Departure Day – Thursday 14 September

We have arrived in Tokyo from Australia.

This morning’s departure – Thank you:

Such a wonderful goodbye, smiles, only a few tears and good wishes! Shared prayers by all. And the guard of honour making us feel special and cherished!

Arrival Under Neon Glow:
Touching down at Haneda International Airport, our group felt the electric atmosphere of Tokyo. Everyone navigated the arrival hall and immigration with smiles and friendly manners. The city’s neon-lit skyscrapers created a futuristic backdrop as we embarked on our nocturnal bus trip to our hotel.

Hotel Room mates and Bentos

Bentos were organised for a late supper. Students have been matched up with their nominated friends (we did a room mate survey before departure) for their first night. Despite the late hour students and leaders were happily feed and ready for bed by 10,30pm. (Well some of us…)

The Tomorrow: Tackling the railway system!

We will wake at a reasonable hour have a buffet breakfast and hit the road; exchanging our JR Rail coupons for the pass (takes around 2 to 3 hours of paperwork) and then onto our first Shinkansen!
