Day 8 – Friday 22 September

Nagoya Castle, Last look around and preparing for Minokamo.

Our exploration of Nagoya continued with a visit to the historic Nagoya Castle. This architectural marvel, dating back to the early 17th century, is a testament to Japan’s rich feudal past.

Leaders learning ninja skills…

Within the castle grounds, you’ll find the beautifully reconstructed Hommaru Palace. This intricate building features ornate interior designs and offers a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of feudal lords.

Pockets full of water!

With our next adventure on the horizon, we spent time preparing for our visit to the sister school. The anticipation grew as we readied ourselves for the cross cultural exchange that awaited.

We embarked on the Hida Wide View. This scenic ride on a switch back rail system carried us up to the slightly higher plains to Mino Ota, a charming town celebrated for its traditional paper-making techniques, and for being a major weigh station on the Old Nakasendo; the feudal era old highway through central Japan.

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a fleet of school buses and school staff. After having a quick look around, seeing the large auditorium where the Monday Welcome Assembly will be held we were able to do a complete practice run through! They are looking and sounding great!

Sneak peek

We spent time with the students getting them centered and ready to meet their host families. Mrs Beckwith shared a devotion especially focused the students home stay and on our Lord’s ever present help and care. Praying together for a safe and blessed times in their home stays the leaders feel confident in your child’s ability to make the most of the homestay.

Smiles and nervous laughs filled the air as we handed over our students to each host family.

Departing from the school with an air of confidence and nervous excitement, our group split for the evening.

Leaders headed to a nearby business hotel for a hopefully good night’s rest, knowing that the our students are well prepared and eager for the next stage of JOE; home stays with the caring and warm families of Minokamo.

For Saturday and Sunday while our students are in their home stays our blog will have extra photo galleries loaded.

Remember to uphold the team in your prayers.
