Day 11 – Hakone to Kyoto

Today in Hakone we used the rope way and pirate boat to visit a few points of interest: Owakudani for a look from above at the geothermal pools and sulfur plumes and trying the black eggs boiled in the natural springs: traveled on Lake Ashli in a pirate ship before visiting the museum and old fort of the Hakone Checkpoint.

Picnic lunch near the lake saw students try some Japanese traditional food in a bento. These bentos are not the discount type from 7/11… something a bit more special.

So tonight after trying their last bento that was very Japanese;which we ate at top of Kyoto Station to watch the LED display ; we had an added course of multiple maccas fries and desserts of unusual ice creams and ice blocks.

Food can be a challenge and we’re proud of them giving it a go.

A change of pace: Big buffet breakfast and lunch in the countryside restaurant, finishing with a buffet dinner at Aeon mall tomorrow should make up for the challenges since we left Minokamo just on Friday!
