This morning we packed up but did one last lot of sightseeing in this beautiful ancient town of Kyoto; Fushimi Inari Jinja, with its 1000 vermillion Tori lining the path to the top of the mountain was a hiking challenge undertaken by us!
We travelled by Shinkansen to Nagoya then changed to the Hida Express ( a switch-back track as Minokamo is up on a plain towards the Japan Alps) to take us out to Minokamo, Gifu prefecture. Greeted by the sister school staff and a fleet of mini buses and taken to the school dormitory where we settled for the night.
Here at the dorm, everyone is getting used to the manners of living Japanese style…shoes off at the doorway and put away, futon laid put, communal dinner together, end of day meeting and prayer time; and Japanese bath! What fun!
Tomorrow we are off to church, so no real sleep in!
Please note: it becomes a little bit difficult to access the net while here. I will endeavour to post photos as soon as I can.
Thank you to all parents for your positive and encouraging posts. Sometimes the students my look tired or even a little pensive in photos, but I assure you we are taking extra care of them all. It is a big trip for these students and they are doing so well, they make us proud! Mrs S.
Hope the ash cloud is not heading your way Zoe – Try to ice and rest that foot
