JOE 2018 Day 7 – 29 Sept

Today was a challenging day but one faced with good faith. The students were thoughtful and curious, wanting to understand the history of Hiroshima and its place on the world stage.

Pausing in the rain to pray for peace, the students entered the museum with a reflective mindset. They were encouraged to engage with the informational displays presented to them even if the content may be difficult to comprehend.

The students did very well and some really took their time to take things in.

After a walk to Hiroshima station with ponchos billowing and umbrellas up, the team caught a series of Shinkansen and local trains in order to reach our sister school in Minokamo. They have offered us their warmest welcome and assisted us to set up camp in their onsite dormitory, where we will stay for the next two nights in order to prepare the students for life in a Japanese home.

All students are safely (and soundly) sleeping on their futons, ready for our church visit tomorrow.
